Just swung by FS on my lunch break. It’s my Dad’s birthday tomorow, and I needed to pick him up a new set of computer speakers. I found a set that I liked, but it had two tags on the shelf – one for $50 and one for $80. The tags were identical in every way, except for the prices. Same model, same fine print, same product name and same description. There was obviously some sort of mix-up, so I walked to the computer counter fully expecting to get in to an argument with the sales clerk. I let him ring the speakers in first, in case the price really was $50. Sure enough, they rang in at $80. So off we go to the speaker section and look at the shelf. He immediately points to the $80 tag and says “See?”. I point to the $50 one and say “See?” We argue a bit, and he tells me that the price in the computer is the right one so that’s what he’s going to charge me. I looked straight at him and said: “You are going to charge me $80 for these speakers, even though this tag on the shelf clearly says $50.” He nodded. I left. I walked over to customer service, and I explained the situation to the person on duty. He walked over to the computer section and was back with my speakers in less than two minutes. He apologized and rang them in for $50. I asked him why there were two different prices, and he informs me that the speakers had been on sale for $50 last week, and someone had missed changing a sign back to $80. I hope the sales guy gets an ass kicking over this. I didn’t go in the store today looking for mislabeled merchandise, but be damned if I’m not going to pass it over if I find it. Maybe if that asshat spent less time chatting with his buddies and spent more time doing his job this wouldn’t have happened. Anyway, this is my typical experience with Future Shop. I always seem to get a nimrod for a sales clerk, but when I have to deal with customer service, I’m always treated quite well. This is my typical experience with Future Shop.

They dont now its all done by sales people that are commision based.. so they make you waste time in the morning then bitch at you when you dont make your targets
actually only 5 departments are on comission on the sales floor. computers, mobile audio, communications, home theatre and appliances….all the front cashiers, customer service, entertainment section etc… are not on comission.
And what is wrong with being on comission. better than going to wal-mart where the associates know nothing about the product
Something to say?

Customer Service will fix the problem, as they don’t care about the sales clerk. This clerk now has to explain himself to the computer sales manager why he sold an item $30 under retail. Obviously he is going to try to sell you the item at the correct price of $80 but I agree they should fix the labels instead of talking although futureshop have their own team of merchandisers that do the labeling.
