Hi,  Where do I start with my story, well let’s see. 3 years ago I moved away from home for work and decided I would be doing a little travelling and would need a laptop for this. So at the time I had 0 experience with the future shop so I went in and bought a new HP  pavillion  p3 notebook, then the next day the p4s came out and they  wouldn’t exchange it for me, so that was good enough, I didn’t mind  it too much but about 3 months into having the laptop I started  having some major problems. Before I go any further I have to say  that ofcourse the problems with the laptop weren’t the future shops  fault but the customer service are. So anyways it started out with  the keyboard not working so they sent it away and it took about a  month, then the lcd screen burnt out 4 times within about 5 months  each time having to be sent away to Hp to be fixed because it was  covered under they 1 year manufacturers warrenty even though I bought  the 2 year future shop warrenty which was a royal rip off because it  says for 2 years but you only get one year because the first is  covered by the manufacturer. So each time the laptop was sent away it  was gone for about a month to a month and a half. so by now they had  fixed the lcd problem and now after having the laptop for about a  year and a half but then the cd rom stops working so they said they’d  send it to hp to be fixed even though it was now on their warrenty  and they were supposed to fix it in store. So I went back every week  for 6 weeks and it was still sitting in the same place, still not  even shipped to HP and the tech’s there kept giving me stories about  how there was a backup and it will be snet the next week, so after 60  days if it being in the store I go back and tell them under their no  lemon warrenty I was entitled to a new laptop. So they told me the  manager would have to deal with it and he was out, so I called back  the next day and he was on vacation. Finally I had enough so I went  back and told them that if they didn’t give me a new laptop right  then and there I would be bringing media with me the next day. They  told me to go pick one out and that was my last dealing with the  future shop. I sold that laptop shortly after. Also I forgot to  mention that part of their warrenty states that if you have the same  hardware problem 3 times you are entitled to a new product but the  problem with this is they log the repairs by your phone # and not  your name so travelling like I was I had changed my cell # 4 or 5  times so they couoldn’t find the repairs so I tracked down all my old  phone #’s and they could only find 2 repairs, big surprise. Since  then I haven’t stepped foot in the future shop and try to warn my  friends about buying there as well.  Thanks to the future shop and HP  I am now a mac user and never happier.CheersChad LangerHalifax, NS

It also states in the PSP contract that it is your responsibility to keep track of repair invoices….

well actually. future shop offers a service plan not a warranty. it is far superior to a warranty. They have recently changed that. Even with in the first year (with hp only, other brands won’t let future shop touch them under manufacturers warranty) future shop will fix the computer. Also, it does not give 2 years after the manufacturers warranty because the “service plan” covers much more. if not then things such as power surges, diagnostics, and performance guarantee would not be covered until you second year when the FS plan would start according to your logic.
