- understand that the commission sales guy can’t make his rent, mortgage, car payment, unless he is able to remove the cash from your pocket…key point: if you forget this you are not in control of the process

- never buy on a weekend, pick a midweek day towards month end when the sales guy is fearing for his job and rent payment

- know what you want before you pass thru the door, do your research on line, and take some time to visit other non negotiable retailers to familiarize yourself with the product you want but don’t let the sales guy know what you know

- play dumb, don’t show up as an informed buyer…let the sales guy show you everything…irritate him, waste his time, frustrate him…let him blow his wad…ask stupid questions…but let the sales guy know that you will buy today…if you find what you like….this drives sales guys crazy

- now here’s a biggie…you’ll need balls to pull this one off…when he comes in for the kill to close you on a product you don’t want…let him ring it up in the till…when he asks you how you will be paying…pull a fat wad of 50’s and hundred’s out of your pocket…hum and haw for a moment…and tell the sales guy…you know…i need to look at what you showed me a little closer

- wander away…look at stuff you have no intention of buying, the sales guy has seen your money…there is blood in the water….he can taste it…feeding time at future shop…you are in control

- make your way to what you really came in for…but fake interest in the one next to it….your sales guy is so worn out he won’t care when you ask him about the product you came to buy…his eyes will light up when tell him you like this one…

- now it’s time to shift gears…and get them to toss in a freebie or discount an add on if i buy this right now….pull out the wad of fifties and hundreds for dramatic effect…

- low ball it, the sales guy will have to go to his manager for approval…but chances are you will leave future shop with a smokin’ deal…these guys are the turkish bazaar of tech…haggle and hassle…

-i left with a best in class 50 inch panasonic hdtv, a blue ray player, and a free HDMI cable…plus same day home delivery…i left feeling like a shoplifter…

- now with all that said, i have bought two notebooks, three digital cameras, and a host of small stuff from future shop…these guys have always backed up their promises and stood by warranties…when things have gone wrong…they have done the right thing in a timely manner

- everyone is entitled to make a living…every business needs to profit to survive…respect that…don’t be rude to the sales guy…just cut the best deal you can

I hate to burst your bubble.. but all the “techniques” you mentioned above wouldn’t do anything to get you a better sale at my store.. and it wouldn’t piss off any salesman just make you look like a retard. BTW the great “deal” you mention above.. the HDMI cables cost like 5 bucks so they got you to buy a hugely overpriced TV (i can save sometimes 35-50% off the cost) and a blue ray player just for a free cable? let me guess did you buy waranty too for that “sweet deal”, because you basically paid tons and I’m sure they convinced you to buy the warranty too for that “free cable” that cost them a mere 5 bucks. I’m not sure where you are getting this information about freebies but at my store no freebies are given out for any item unless your buying warranty, setup, install etc then they are raping you for GM anyway so why not throw in a free cable that cost them nothing? Trust me.. futureshop will always get the “best deal”.

I agree with the response to this post. If you tried that with me, you’d get no better deal than if you came in and said “i’m looking at this tv and blu ray” what kind of deal can you give me? I always try to give a customer the best deal I can because I want them to come back and see me in the future….and they have. So I would suggest you rethink your approach as most people would just make a comment about you later. And the good Product Experts on the floor don’t have any trouble making their payments.

Quite obvious last two posts are from future shop employees. I don’t know why you guys defend your pathetic careers as a fs salesmen so much, or your ‘electronics’ company so vehemently.

You can wheel and deal with some employees at futureshop.

A lot of times they will cut you a good deal because some employees are desperate for sales and/ or warranty.
Each employee has to maintain a warranty percentage for everything they sell, or their managers will bust their balls.
Its really a shitty place to work at.

Depending on who their manager or sub-manager is at the time of the sale, they can sometimes approve some crazy deals if it will boost the stores warranty percentage or move certain product.

There are also some employees who just don’t give a shit and will cut you some pretty good deals too so they can get commission. I don’t know how much this will happen anymore with the recession though, management probably becomes more nazi like I’m assuming so those employees probably get more rare.

And lastly a lot of product has INSANE mark up on it, thus allowing them to make sweet deals if they are desperate or don’t give a shit enough.

It really just depends on the employee you are dealing with, and how pussy whipped his manager has him, and which manager is on the floor at the time. Like most lower class uneducated jobs, a lot of what these employees can do is based off of how chillin their manager is.

And lastly to top off this whole process, futureshop, bestbuy, visions, etc, are ridiculous places to buy large tv’s from.

They have to put large markups on all the tvs they sell in order to support their large company infrastructure and employee commissions.

Do your own research, if you’re reading this, then you can probably get around on google pretty good.
Find out which tv you want and is best for you.

Then go to a wholesale or volume dealer, who gets their product from the company and makes their profit from just selling volume to businesses and whatnot. They are usually willing to make an exception to a singular buyer every once in a while.
You can usually get the tv for as much as or cheaper then what a futureshop employee would get it for on his or her staff discount.

Its like going to a car dealership that puts large markups on their vehicles, or going to one that sells them at mrsp or cheaper.

As societies slowly get more technological know-how. Hopefully middleman markup stores will no longer be necessary because people will know what they want and need, and can just get it manufacturer direct from a warehouse.

note to self, if you ever have a company, or if you ever make alot of money, rob you. or do the same shit to you. How immature and disgusting are you to post this, get a life, everyone needs to make money you low life, how shallow are you to say come in on a certain day so they cant pay there rent, YOU of all people deserve to pay there rent. I hope you lose all your money and live on the street, conceited.. and if you believe all this, dont shop there, dont give us your bullcrap about and try to give insites cause your bad at it. Just shop someone else, cause you put this shows you care a little to much about futureshop

i would just like to loosly comment on one of the posts said here by morgine

these employees never exsisted, as a futureshop employee for over 4 years now, the employees that you were dealing wiht are more than likely still there, when you are gettign “discounts” they employee loses parts of there commision, our commission is not based on sales percentage. soley based on products. i can sell a 10$ hdmi cable and get 70 cents out of it and sell another 10$ svideo cable and get 1.90 out of it its all about the product gross margin and has absolutly nothing to do with certain employees. each department has to have a certain GM to meet if there sale is waaay over this amount they will “discount” and give you a warranty for like 10 dollars keeping their GM at a water marked level and getting warranty percentage out of you.

Something to say?
