When i went to futureshop to buy the seagate 2 500GB sata drive, the salesman tried to stick me with ide hookup cables, then tried to tell me that even though my motherboard has 4 sata ports its not sata compatable and that i need a pata drive. Then to top it off when he showed me the pata drive it turned out to be an IDE drive. Well i bought the sata only to find futureshop doesn’t even sell sata hookup cables. 2 weeks later i was back for a ram card 1GB pc3200 only to be told that they dont come bigger than 512. I was then told i was wrong when i stated i already have a 1gb card. He then proceeded to try to convince me to buy an uncompatable comstar ddr2 ram card for 119 bucks. I left went to KCC and got the card for 40 bucks. Someone needs to make sure these putzes actually know what a cpu is before trying to sell the parts

What do you mean? They are all experts at reading the stats off the box to you.
“this one is, uh.. let me see..”
I love hearing the comments of the staff to customers in the computer section! Treat the advice the same as you would from a used car salesman.
Reminds me of the used car lot I went to when I asked about the engine in a Mazda RX-7.
“So how big is the engine?”, I ask.
“Oh, it’s a.. 5 liter V8″, he responds.
“Must be fast huh?”
“Yes very fast”.
FYI, rotary engine, 1.3 liter, fast.
1/3 ain’t bad! Needless to say, I got the &^%@ outta there.
First off…you obviously dont know what a cpu is if your title is cpu and your talking about ram and hard drives… cpu’s distinguish 1’s and 2’s thats it…. depending on when you bought this ( i assume june because your post is from june) then you couldve been dealing with a seasonal associate… seasonals dont always know their stuff, they are just there to get boxes out the door then they get canned….
future shop has since april had ddr2 2gb sticks on for 39.99-49.99 at all times therefore if you bought a 1gb for 119 for any reason, then you arent that smart of a consumer…
regarding cables, they do carry sata cables but considering your messing up sata ide and pata i wouldnt expect you to know what a sata cable looks like so they probably dont have the cable you want which was probably really an ide that you thought was sata.
Dude, I know your pain. I was starting to imagine the “putz” you were talking to and then it hit me when you said KCC. I know who you are talking about. Now, don’t get me wrong, I actually really like Future Shop, every year on Dec 26th I am there, waiting for the doors to open. I am always first in line and I do this religiously. But I can only assume you are talking about the Aberdeen Future Shop.
The techs there are just outrageously bad. I myself being a tech, know that they are full of it and don’t let anyone on here try and bash you for calling them out. They are the sleaziest bunch of dudes I have EVER seen. They know absolutely nothing about anything they sell and couldn’t tell the difference between their ass and a firewire port. One of them tried to sell me their “fabulous” PSP on an Asus Eee PC I bought for my mother last xmas and when I told him, “No thank-you, I am a tech myself. I am sure if anything goes wrong the manufacturer warranty will cover it. Any other non-motherboard related issues I can fix myself with replacement parts from Sneakers” (yes, I was that polite) he had the balls to say “well when you fry the fuckin’ thing don’t come crying to me”. I looked at my friend, looked back at him and did the whole “pardon me?” thing, he repeated himself in which case I told him to shove his PSP up his ass and waited for the salesman I always deal with to come on shift and bought it from him.
Sorry for the huge tangent I went off on but I just can’t stand those assholes. Telling people that they need to set up their new computers for them and charge them $100 to do it. THEY JUST CLICK NEXT SEVEN OR EIGHT TIMES! Ugh and don’t get me started on them pushing the whole Norton thing on customers.
Something to say?

You’re an idiot. A PATA drive is the exact same thing as what you’re thinking as the traditional IDE drive.
Actually, to top that off, SATA and PATA are both forms of IDE drives, however people seem to misunderstand and use the terms PATA and IDE interchangeably.
Quit making shit up about futureshop because I’m sure you’ve found some nice deals there before and never wrote about that on your blog. Or even if you’re not making this scenario up, at least have some knowledge before making a ridiculously stupid post.
