why does it sound like this board is infested with FS employees?? If you want better service and you want to speak to staff that actually care and know what they are talking about go to your local independent dealer. Most of the time they will beat or match the pricing and you don’t get the warranty shoved up your butt! FS employees are highly compensated for selling the warranty, it is exceptionally profitable for FS. Your biggest mistake is buying no-name, made in China crap! Stay with quality brands and if you do have an issue down the road they will usually look after you with the support of the independent retailer. A good independent will go to bat for you as long as you treat them with a little respect! I don’t know why anyone shops for quality electronics at a big box store. Remember, quality goods is a long term investment.

You do realize the Future Shop is so big because most people receive good service from them right? You only hear the .01% of dissatisfied customers and don’t see the overwhelming majority that are satisfied and happy.
HAHA “made in china crap”
do you realize that EVERYTHING electronic wise is made in third world countries, like china, mexico, thailand and india?
Commissioned sales people making money off of product and services they provide? who would’ve known? extended warranties are a piece of mind, buy it if you want, don’t buy it if you don’t want it.
You’re an idiot if you think people who work on commission don’t try to sell you everything, anything intangible like setting up your computers, installing your car stereos, and warranties are things you either believe in or don’t believe in.
Something to say?

I agree…when you build a time machine to go back a few decades let me know. The glory days of the ‘mom and pop’ store building a local customer base with loyal and honest service hasn’t been in a effect for decades. Best buy and Futureshop are the bulk buyers of electronics and have the deepest selection. Even if a small guy can get some purchasing power, it is nothing compared to those two, who have subsequently merged as well = more juice.
Also, you suggest that smaller retailers can impact manufacturer quality, which is suggesting a worldwide conspiracy of epic proportions. Does CSIS know about this? Look, product is product. Build quality has nothing to do with it. If anything the bigger guys knowingly take on sub-par product but with great manufacturer rebates BUT let me stress, some of the stuff is garbage regardless and if a consumer hops on the net, they would find a plethora of info confirming this. If I pass off a painted rock as an ipod and you buy it because I tell you to, who is the dummy? This is not the 1990’s, be smart because even the little guys will take you for a ride.
Show me any small shop, struggling to compete with big box chains, who wouldn’t take on a ‘questionable’ product to get more $$$ and I’ll show you a liar. Only thing, is when I go to a mom and pop and bitch them out, I have to worry about someone’s kids or braces or vet bills. I’d rather go after the pockets of a big corporation because they have a bigger reputation to protect.
Sorry for being harsh but really, this is 2009 (soon to be 2010, woohoo!!). Anyone still going in to a store and asking “what should I buy with $X,XXX?” is a whale waiting to be harpooned!
We need smarter consumers who don’t buy crap and then complain. If you stop buying garbage manufacturers will have to stop building garbage. Overtime, the carrying cost of having a pile of stankiness will be too much to handle but to think the smaller guy can do more, is not the reality we are currently living in. If I’m wrong, tell me where I can go in the toronto are asap!!
