Dont waste money on their so called ISF tv Calibration to which they charge 300$ and done by a so called certified professional, to which all certification is is passing a test.

DO NOT buy this service, you can get the same if not better quality from the many DVD caibrations ex DVE, AVIA for 40$

all the connect pro as they are called does is adjust the user settings on your tv with your remote on one input with HIS dvd. YOU CAN DO THIS YOURSELF

and if you must get an ISF calibration, because i do beleive that it can benefit your tv, go somewhere else, anywhere else that will actually go into your tv and calibrate it properly and not just change the USER settings

Their is actually a fantastic place that does proper calibration to ISF standards and does not do it the lazy way. They actually access the back menu of the television that your regular person cant change. They use about $7000 worth of equipment to give you the best contrast and picture quality while increasing your TV’s lifespan

Ahhh…. GEEK SQUAD is owned by BEST BUY, BEST BUY = FUTURE SHOP.

Are you retarded or something, because your name is SmartFriend? Shocking that someone would do that…please do not spread your seed, we have way too many idiots in this world.

My Television actually looks a lot better with the Calibration! I tried to use that DVD calibrator , it improves the pic however not as good as the tech did!

First off, I wont deny nor confirm weither or not I am a FS employee, if you aren’t dumb you’ll be able to guess and chances are, if you aren’t dumb, you can guess the department that I work for. However, I’ll be the first to say that alot of things I see come out of FS aren’t always my favourite to see. Employee’s are numbers, a means to which they make revenue.

As for the ISF calibration of TV’s. FS’s connectpro guys are trained, certified and such to do it. Most TV’s now come with the offsets to be able to calibrate it WITHOUT going into the service menu, LG being the first. (Main reason for this is the service menu contains alot of things that unless you are a qualified repair guy, you don’t want to touch or accidently change) so it allows someone with the 10000 dollar kit to be able to change the settings without accidently blowing up your TV. The DVD is not as good as it relies soley on your eyes (which are not perfect, the TV is offset from the factory to trick you into thinking its all bright and shiney and is better than the next competitor). A laptop and colour probe is the only way to be 100%.

The Connectpro Guys/Gals. You’ll meet some fantastic ones, you’ll meet some that are just pricks and will tell you to pound salt if you ask them to go the extra mile. I’ve met both.

Is FS a giant corporation bent on breaking record profits every quarter possible? Absolutely. Between FS and BB, they own 66% of the market share…that means every 2/3 electronics bought in North America is purchased at Best Buy or Future Shop. They wouldn’t be where they are at if they weren’t good at what they do. Do you have much of a choice if you don’t want to spend extra money? Not overly. Little stores really can’t compete.

Here’s the kicker. An ISF calibrated TV can only be done after the TV has broken in : Approx 100hrs. The 300 charge is SUPPOSE to cover 3 inputs. If you run all of your components through an AV switcher (amp) then that is how they should be calibrating the TV, through the amp…make sure they are. Each TV will suffer colour drift as time goes on…IE slight burn in from Plasma’s and such. A TV should be rechecked every year. SO, techniqually you should have it rechecked and possibly recalibrated once a year. Talk to the guys at the store and work it out so that for like 50 bucks they’ll come tune up your TV. The Average Calibrated TV drops it’s hydro consumption almost it half (vs vivid/dynamic settings) and makes the TV last longer. It also helps prevent burn in (all you people who have plasmas like I do)

I just have to laugh at all the people who cry (FS is the big box company, they are evil) so is Wal-Mart, so is Sears, etc. But atleast FS doesn’t charge a restocking fee…lol.

All i’m saying is take what you can get from them…take the lower prices and such.

Most future shop hti installers have no training, do not have any industry recognized certificates, as stated in there flyers.
No cedia
No isf
If you dont believe, ask to see them.
FACTS!

I’m surprised they offer any type of ISF calibration. Who in their right mind would actually trust this?

You can get someone here in Toronto that does proper TV calibration for approx. $100 – $150 and they are EXPERTS. Do not trust someone who works for a big box store to do this, they aren’t trained like these guys and they aren’t even close in terms of knowledge or experience either.

Here’s a link to find someone in Toronto:

Many professional audio and video calibrations are a joke, but not all. If you really are interested in a high quality professional video or audio calibration or design service go to http://www.accucalhd.com

I don’t understand what this has to do with Future Shop. I was told about the service from a friend of mine, went in to check it out, researched it and after I had it done what a world of difference.

The tech mounted this piece of equipment on my screen called a “Spider” and was using his laptop to reference and adjust the T.V. I am confused by the first poster as it sounds like he had what’s a called a basic THX calibration performed and not an ISF certified calibration. The tech told me he went to California to receive his certification and was quite knowledgeable about my other equipment and some questions I had.

I feel sorry for the person who made the first post. I think anywhere you can get an ISF certified calibration from is a good choice even if it isn’t future shop (although they sold it for $100 cheaper then Best Buy when it is the same company.)

Something to say?
