i suspect that heavily discounted products sold at future shop as new are actually returns or demos. many of my purchases have led me to this conclusion. i will discuss just one at legnth a plasma tv. television was delivered in the box with stand already mounted. the manual clearly stated that the stand needed to be assembled and mounted. in addition the television was filthy. customer service agreed to ship another unit. replacement is delivered guess what same thing although the television is clean. had to laugh the delivery guy noted on his paper work that the returned television was dirty and that there were finger prints all over the screen. i kept the replacement rationalising that return or not it was good value. i contacted the manufacturer about this issue and it was confirmed that the stand should not have been assembled or mounted on the tv. what bugs me the most about this practice is that there suppliers do nothing to stop it . here is a list of other items purchased as new. 2 sets of computer speakers with game console adapters missing, av receiver no remote, an absolutely nonfunctional printer

Used, returned, or demo items are marked due to Canadian sales law.
If the Future Shop you’re shopping at is breaking the law and selling used as new then I would suggest reporting them.
alot of times employees like selling open box because it almost guarantees they could get warranty or additional products sold with the open box item for a really low price.. if not free sometimes. they really lose no money at all
Open box is a common thing at Future Shop stores, if you weren’t informed you were buying an open box (someone purchased the product and returned it in 14 days) then I could understand, but the same way you could return it and get your money back, but based on what you are saying, you were aware it was open box because it was “heavily discounted” All open box items have a sticker on them stating it is open box. And even if there was all that in the end…don’t buy it if you don’t trust it or buy brand new and pay full price.
Something to say?

This is true Future Shop will sell used or returned products at full price as long as the box is not damaged. The company loses points for having open box products in the store. The sales associates also will try not to sell an item as a open box because they lose money off the sale. I used to be in charge of taking the used items to the back of the store and I have been told from many different managers to rip the open box stickers and switch them to factory fresh because they look as though they have not been purchased, when in fact they have no idea what the customer did to that product. Future Shop sucks c**k! F**king hate that place so much.
