I recently tried to use a gift card (which I knew had a balance on it still) only to be told that the balance was zero. I double checked all my receipts, and my bank account to make sure that there weren’t any purchases I forgot. So the next day I go back to the customer service desk, and get them to look into it. Eventually we find that someone had ‘merged’ my card with three other cards in a city two hours away. I was told that someone must have taken my card and used it, then returned it without me realising…
So at this point, I have contacted their customer service through email (actually they emailed me after I posted about the fraud on their official forum) and am waiting for some kind of resolution. I wonder how many people are affected by this issue…

There’s got to be more than this that what’s being told…will be interesting to see how customer service handles this

Don’t hold your breath when waiting for Future Shop customer service to reply. I’ve been waiting for over two weeks for a response to a complaint I made about the Sherbrooke, Quebec store. They have terrible service, a terrible attitude and obviously little or no training. All I wanted to know is if they could install a satellite radio system in my car ( Lexus ) which is supposed to be compatible. I’ve called customer service 5 times now!!!!!!

let me fill you in on a little secret. Future Shop Gift cards are involved in a British Columbia based scam right now. Basically there are university students in BC who have determined the gift card number patterns and are creating fake gift cards. They then are used in stores in BC to add to a legit gift card, then cashed out , or used to make a purchase. These students usually have friends that work in the stores, so help process these shady gift cards.

What you need to do is go back to the store and have the Customer Service Supervisor fill out an email form called ” Gift Card Issues” and state in there that they believe it is part of this scam and make sure they CC their Distrcit Loss Prevention manager. Have that Supervisor send the email while you are in store and print a copy for you so you have proof. what will happen then is within 3 business days the supervisor will receive an email saying, yes it is involved, please pay for a new gift card using company account money, you go in and pick up your new gift card.

As a (very recently former) Supervisor, I apologize, this should never have been such an issue… but I guess i did run the best CS team in the company… please follow through with this – as much as i am in dislike of FutureShop, the people involved in this scam need to be caught. good luck
